I stopped gardening near the end of the day to do a quick “on the spot” sketch of these lovely daffodils (or are they narcissus?) given to me by my friend Vi (adopted as an aunt).
A confident line, and quite graceful. Especially the two whose heads are shyly turned away.

Beautifully done. I think daffodils are so hard to paint because the shading within the petals is so subtle. I love the way you captured the twisting leaves.

Thanks Shari! I’m going to paint some using good paper, sitting down at a table, and referring to a step-by-step book I have on botanical art. Not that I’m planning to get a three-hair brush to paint stamens — but there are good tips in the book on painting white flowers.
